Family time is hard to get these days, between spending time on line and just the general schedule surrounding school, work, and recreational activities. If you want to make sure that you always have time for your loved ones but not at the expense of the important schedules that you keep, here are some fun and accessible suggestions to help you create space and time every month for great bonding routines.

Family fun monthly routine ideas

The neat thing about these ideas ad suggestions is that they don’t need to be daily or weekly. Often, many weeks just don’t allow for those. By putting these 4 tips into action, each one time a month, you’ll find it’s easy to work these into your schedule and still enjoy them stress-free when the day or night arrives.

  1. Pick meals to match one or two days a month: For example, maybe you can have pizza on the 15th of every month. Or, tacos on the 2nd of the month, etc. Whatever meals motivate our family, connect them to certain days of the month and stay true to that! It’s a great way to make sure that everyone’s around the table ,too.

  2. Have a monthly camping trip: While camping may not be everyone’s cup of tea, you can do it however you like. Spend time with your loved ones in a camping capacity. Try to keep it tech-free (no phones, tablets, etc) and go old fashioned by roasting marshmallows or hotdogs. Dn’t want to go far? Camp in the backyard! Is it raining or storming? Set a tent in the living room instead! There is tonnes of fun to be had.

  3. Create a game night where your child chooses the games: Once a month, set up a game night. Allow your child (as well as all other family members) to pick a game and then make sure that everyone’s game gets played in the evening. It can be a snack-filled night with plenty of bonding, too.

  4. Individualized pros and cons about the month: This can be challenging at first but it’s a great way to make sure that everyone knows what’s going on in everyone else’s life! Once a month, sit down around the table (or couch) and list 2 pros and 1 con per person. The goal is to understand what went well and what went not-so-well in the month without dwelling too much on the negatives. These are personal opinions and there should be a rule to prevent anyone from saying that someone’s pro is a pro, or someone’s con isn’t a con. This keeps it judgement-free as well.

Whether you want to adopt all of these into your monthly schedule or use it as a jumping board to create your own monthly routines that will make great memories, these tips are easy to add into a schedule and will make a significant difference in the amount of meaningful time that you spend together as well.
