A lot of people will look at child prodigies and think that they were something out of the ordinary. Exceptionally skilled children that are capable of taking on the world and making an incredible difference in it. While, yes, natural skill and talent is important, there’s also more going on behind the scenes of as child prodigy: passion. If you have passion and support, any talented child can be a child prodigy! There is no better example of this than Sujari Britt.

Interests can develop young

A young musician from New York, this homeschooled girl was just like any other little girl out there until the age of 8. With wide interests and attentive parents, she was educated and combined musical education along with traditional education. She started playing piano, then guitar. By the time she was 4 years old, she had progressed to the cello and is now known across borders as a stunning cello prodigy.

  • Inspiration can strike at any time: Her love of music came from Yo Yo Mama and while she had enjoyed piano and guitar, Sujari wanted more. She felt drawn to the cello and, from the first time she started to play, knew it was her ticket. It spoke to her in a way that other things didn’t and was so critical to giving her voice. For young Sujari, inspiration hit just randomly at the age of 3 and it turned out to be her passion!

  • Passion creates professionalism: Sujari is also an example of the fact that passion itself is enough to transform someone that young into a true professional. She is considered to have more professional technique than cello artists who have been training throughout their lives, and she is not even 18 yet! Age is only an umber when it comes to sheer ability.

  • Interest will create branches to related topics: Sujari also has an interest in taking her love for many kinds of music and inspiring her to compose her own that she hopes to debut in the future. This allows her to branch out her interest to compel young musicians to explore their own love of self-expression through music. Passion creates avenues for future success.

It starts with proper guidance

As with anything, proper guidance is critical for making sure that a young child can really step into their own power through their passion. A parent’s role is to help encourage that passion to come out however it is intended, and to be a cheerleader for their child rather than a “soccer Mom/Dad”. Sujari’s parents encourage her musical abilities and support her through making sure that she has someone at her side to be helpful. But, they allow her to explore her passion however feels right.

Every child can follow their passion and be the best version of themselves possible. Parents, you can help your child step into their own power and passion by making sure they have got all of the tools and support they need to do so freely.
