Warning: Your Child's Passion Could Change Their Life

Mikaila Ulmer’s love of bees started after getting stung twice in one week. Instead of being afraid for the rest of her life, she decided to learn about them after being encouraged by her parents. The knowledge she gained ignited a passion inside of her at just four years old, and she knew she had to do something to help save bees.

Mikaila started her own company at four years old. Following her great-grandmother’s recipe, Mikaila made lemonade using honey she got from local beekeepers and sold it outside of her house. Soon, a pizza restaurant nearby agreed to sell Mikaila’s lemonade if she could bottle it, and this changed everything. Both her reach and her profits grew more than she could have imagined.

Today, her lemonade is called Me & the Bees Lemonade, further emphasizing her love of bees. The lemonade is sold in several popular grocery chains and even in some restaurants and food trailers. Because she had taken the initiative to learn about bees, she wanted to help bees and educate others about their importance. A portion of all Mikaila’s profits are donated to organizations working to save bees.

Mikaila’s story teaches kids that anyone can learn and make a difference, no matter how old they are. She loves to tell people that everyone has something they can learn and teach, regardless of their age. Children need to learn about the world around them to help give them a sense of purpose and allow them to make an impact.

Mikaila also makes sure people know that growing a business isn’t easy, but it is not impossible. Even though she has faced many challenges over the years, she’s used them as learning and growth opportunities. She also encourages people to find mentors, whether it is parents, teachers, or someone else. Her parents have taught her so much about marketing and money, even when she thought she was too young to learn these skills. They have encouraged Mikaila every step of the way. Mikaila is using this encouragement, her business knowledge, and her passions to make money, educate people, and make a difference in the world.
