Can a boy make a life better for homeless kids?

It’s rare to hear about a charity that has risen up so quickly, but The Little Red Wagon Foundation has become a household name – and it was only founded in 2005, by a 7-year-old boy. Imagine that, something that is only as old as an elementary school student has become so successful that its not only put smiles on thousands of children’s faces, but has been turned into a movie – and it started with a 7 year old, pulling a little red wagon along his street to collect 27 truckloads of disaster supplies. That 7 years old was Zach Bonner, who went on to fund the charity and that changed the lives of children, one wagon load of supplies and donations at a time.

But how could a 7-year-old do such a thing alone? The answer is, he didn’t. His mother was there supporting him every step of the way – more literally than you’d think.

As if the foundation of such an amazing non-profit wasn’t enough, Zach took on a 2,478-mile trip that took nearly six months to finish in 2010. And he was just 13. The teen covered an average of 17–22 miles each and every day on the journey. Not only did he raise a phenomenal amount of awareness, but The Office Depot Foundation donated 2,478 backpacks to needy children because of it – one for every mile Bonner walked until he completed the width of America on September 14, 2010.

Perfect for a movie night in, the story of the Little Red Wagon Foundation's creator Zach Bonner has been immortalized in film – not that it’s anything we’d forget. Still, it’s nice to see, not to mention it’s a moving and inspirational watch that will give you the push you need to follow your own. And for parents, it’s a heart-warming reminder that when you support your child in their dreams, amazing things happen.

Why not get inspired and do something inspiring today? There’s no better bandwagon to jump on than this one.
